I am trying to use Yoast SEO Plugin for WordPress and Yoast WooCommerce Plugin and have activated the Yoast Breadcrumbs and yada yada yada. This is where I am at now…
To get the Yoast SEO Breadcrumbs we ask the following
• 1. Reach out to your theme developer and ask if WordPress breadcrumbs have been included. WordPress breadcrumbs are not native to WordPress themes and need to be added in by a theme developer.
• 2. If they have been, you will then need to implement Yoast SEO Breadcrumbs. You will need to place special code in a php file. Most often this is your single.php or page.php: This guide explains more: http://kb.yoast.com/article/245-implement-wordpress-seo-breadcrumbs
• 3. Then activate the breadcrumbs by going to SEO->Search Appearance->Breadcrumbs->Enable
I have tried the 3 settings for breadcrumbs in the theme. Disabled they disappear and Default and WC Breadcrumbs and no difference the way I know they are not working is I used ~ for the seperator and current separator is a slash.

THanks

Hi,

I think the analyse of the breadcrumbs is wrong.
The order of the items is incorrect.

For the category page:
The theme shows: Home >> Northumberland >> Engeland >> Europa >> Alnwick
The correct path: Home >> Europe >> Engeland >> Northumberland >> Alnwick

A post gets: Home >> Northumberland >> Engeland >> Europa >> Alnwick >> Alnwick Castle Tower
The correct Home >> Europe >> Engeland >> Northumberland >> Alnwick >> Alnwick Castle Tower

The structure of my Category
Europa
– Engeland
— Northumberland
— Alnwick

You can see it in live action on:

On a post page, the breadcrumbs.php file fires the error:

Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/c27colon/public_html/wp-content/themes/supermagpro/acmethemes/functions/breadcrumbs.php on line 78

On line 76 is the issue, because that’s where the code calls “get_category_parents” which is what is throwing the error and can’t be output as a string on line 78.

$cats = get_category_parents($cat, TRUE, ' ' . $delimiter . ' ');

The issue seems to stem from a parent category no longer existing for the child category that the post is assigned to.

They suggested fix is using something like this:

is_wp_error( $cat_parents = get_category_parents($cat, TRUE, '' . $delimiter . '') ) ? '' : $cat_parents;

Where the error is caught and handled before echoing the parent category.

We’ve managed to fix many of the posts where this applies by simply reassigning the categories for the posts to newer categories but hope you take the time to catch the error and handle it for future releases of the theme.
